#WW Wine Review MONTECARLO, ROSSO DOC 2011

This weeks #WW wine is an import, one of the few that traveled back from our Italy Adventure in the suitcase. While not an expensive (it is a ****) wine it was not one that was to be opened for just any occasion. It did get to travel half way around the world after all. But the occasion was a Wednesday and the meal prepared was very good, and well, it is a **** wine that is made for just such an occasion. The wine is the

MONTECARLO, ROSSO DOC 2011

A DOC blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Temperature to serve the wine is recommended on the bottle at 16-18° C and who are we to disagree. It actually seemed about perfect! (60-64 deg F)

Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks and under controlled temperatures, and then aging in French oak barrels for about 7 months before bottling. Alcohol is a fairly low 13% and the color is a lovely deep ruby
red with lovely notes of dark fruit and flowers. It touches the palate with cocoa, spices and vanilla and has a nice complexity of taste. With good structure and with soft tannins evident but nicely rounded it’s a nicely balanced medium bodied wine. This wine bats way above its price point!

A fabulous #WW wine that we feel is a 6-7 and **** and perfect for any day of the week.

Happy Wine Adventures,
Cheers,
